Precious Plastic Indonesia di Happiness Festival

Scroll on down for English

No worries.

Kumpulan komunitas, demikian kami menamakan Precious Plastic Indonesia.

Precious Plastic Indonesia Community Debut

Many people have heard of Precious Plastic, but not many have actually seen or heard of people being involved with Precious Plastic in Indonesia. Fortunately, the Precious Plastic Indonesia community was given a stall at the Happiness Festival 2018 in Taman Menteng, Jakarta.

During the festival, people would come and check out what exactly Precious Plastic is as well as find out more information about the Indonesian community. I believe further meetups, workshops, and demonstrations would help further improve the usage of Precious Plastic in Indonesia.

Precious Plastic is like a user group. Anyone can buy the machines, make them themselves, or find someone to make them. The community is there because we need each other’s help in finding parts, making the machines, or figuring out how to use the machines. We rely on each other for help, but anyone can go the lone wolf route and do it all themselves and keep to themselves.

In reality, We are a community of communities. It takes a community to fully take advantage of the Precious Plastic machines. You need people collecting plastic, people designing things to make, and people selling/using the products in meaningful ways (not just make more plastic waste). We, the Precious Plastic Indonesia Community, are here to help support the spread of the machines and knowledge, but the actual usage of the machines are by individuals or groups or companies, not “Precious Plastic” itself. I hope that’s already understood and not too confusing to understand. 🙂

I hope that this year is a great year for growth in the Precious Plastic Indonesia Community and that we can start making bigger changes in Indonesia. And yes, I hope that one day there wont be any plastic waste around…but for now this is a good way to help make something nice from rubbish.

Thank you Rico for lending your machines + Parongpong, Rendy, and Dimas for helping out with the stall. And everyone else who’s part of the community who stopped by to say hi, was great seeing you and hope to see you all again sometime soon!
